Overview

Vitax Hydrangea Colourant

If you're looking to turn your pink hydrangeas into a beautiful blue hue, then Hydrangea Colourant is just what you need.

Hydrangeas that grow in the presence of iron or aluminium salts tend to change colour and produce charming blue flowers. Depending on the variety, lighter pink hydrangeas will transition to a delightful blue, while darker pink varieties may take on a lovely mauve hue.

For optimal results, it's best to use this product with plants growing in acidic soil. However, if your soil is alkaline, you should double the proportions.

Here are its key features:

  • Suitable for both potted hydrangeas and those grown outdoors
  • Easily dissolves in hot water
  • Mix it with the soil for the best results
  • For both potted hydrangeas and those grown outside, simply blend the Hydrangea Colourant with the soil in which the root system will develop.

Once the hydrangeas are established, dilute the Hydrangea Colourant as directed and water weekly during their growth phase.

Pot or container grown hydrangeas:

Mix Hydrangea Colourant with the soil when potting, in the proportion of one part to thirty parts of potting soil, e.g. 250g in 7.5 litres. During growth, water weekly with 30g Colourant per 5 litres of water. Hydrangea Colourant is most readily dissolved first in a little hot water.

Outdoor grown hydrangeas:

On planting, mix Hydrangea Colourant with the soil in which the root system will develop, in the proportion of one part Colourant to thirty parts soil, e.g. 250g in 7.5 litres. Subsequently, water weekly during the growing season at a rate of 30g per 5 litres of water. Apply to the area of soil covered by the bush itself, thoroughly wetting the soil surface. The colour of other plants can be intensified by treating with Hydrangea Colourant in the same manner.

Always ensure it's kept out of reach of children and consider wearing protective gloves and eye gear while using the product, if possible.
