Shetland Black seed potatoes are a great novelty second early variety that has survived the test of time. An old and rare heritage potato variety, Shetland Black has only recently been returned to the market with the aid of modern technology.
Long oval shaped tubers with purple skins, white flesh and a tell-tale dark purple ring around the inside of the tuber makes for a pretty and unusual potato, well worth growing just to taste their delicious, unique flavour alone.
Shetland Blacks are a floury/mealy potato which will appeal to many people.
